Demand for the new iPad has been high. So high that Apple recently issued a statement to CNET?that said consumer interest has been ?off the charts,? with the initial pre-order batch selling out. In fact, as of writing this, shipments have changed from March 16 to ?2 ? 3 weeks.? The news has even prompted notable Apple fan and Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster to predict the new iPad will sell more than a million units once it goes on sale this Friday at retail stores. And it seems that Apple, in an attempt to satiate overwhelming demand, is going to open its doors early so consumers can get their hands on the device as soon as possible.
According to MacRumors, per a report in the Houston Chronicle, Apple is inviting customers into its new Highland Village store in Texas at 8:00 AM on March 16 to coincide with the new iPad launch. An Apple spokeswoman wouldn?t say whether or not other stores across the county plan to open at 8:00 AM as well, ?but an early opening is typical when the company starts selling a new iPad or iPhone model,? the Houston Chronicle wrote.
And, hey! If AM openings are your thing, you better start lining up early lest you want to miss out because these brave ? or stupid ? souls took the last units in store.
