Lt. Gen. Gaskin to Be Honored Aboard Battleship New Jersey

NEWPORT, R.I., Aug. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The United States Naval War College Foundation will honor Lt. Gen. Walter E. Gaskin, deputy chairman of NATO's Military Committee, at a dinner Sept. 21 aboard the U.S.S. New Jersey, the retired battleship on the Delaware River in Camden, N.J.

The event is entitled, "A Patriotic Evening Aboard Battleship New Jersey"?and is open to the public.

Lt. Gen. Gaskin, United State Marine Corps, is stationed at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, where he has served since 2010. From 2006 to 2008, he was commanding general of the 2^nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, N.C. During that time he simultaneously held the post of commanding general of the Second Marine Expeditionary Force and for one year led the Multinational Forces-West in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.

Among his many other assignments were vice director of the Joint Staff in Washington, the commanding general of Marine Corps Recruiting Command in Quantico, Va., and chief of staff, Naval Striking and Support Forces?Southern Europe.
