Serbia Grabs Four Olympic Medals :: Balkan Insight

Milica Mandic, won the only gold for Serbia in taekwondoo in the +67 kilograms category late on Saturday.

She beat Anne-Caroline Graffe of France 9-7 in the final match.

Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic personally congratulated Mandic and her coach Dragan Jovic in London's hall ExCel ahead of the awarding ceremony, stressing that this was a historic win and Serbia's first Olympic gold after 12 years.

Markswoman Ivana Maksimovic scooped up a silver in the 50 meter Rifle 3 Positions event.

The national men's water polo team won Olympic bronze beating Montenegro 12-11 (3-2, 1-3, 4-5, 4-1).

The most valuable players in the Serbian team were Filip Filipovic with three goals, and Dusko Pjetlovic and Slobodan Nikic with two goals each.

Another bronze was won by shooter Andrija Zlatic in the 10 meter Air Pistol event.

Serbia won three medals in the 2008 Beijing Games - a gold and two bronze medals.
